Onward to the Border

We left Yellowstone Country on May 10th for Billings, Montana. On the way, we stopped for lunch and the other Ron noticed we had a delamination in our sidewall of the Montana tire.  So, our first stop was Discount Tire to see how serious it was. Discovered the other side had an issue also. So, we had to decide on replacing two tires or four. After calling around, the Discount Tire Hartland tire was the only one we could get without waiting a week.

So, got new shoes for Quattro. Ready for the roads in Alaska. Staying two nights boondocking at Cabela’s. The main reason we stopped in Billings was to see a Pointing Lab breeder, Rocky Point Kennels. Chris and Jenna showed the four of us around and we got to meet some of their dogs. Left a deposit for a puppy for next year.

We are looking at a Yellow (Red) female puppy about this time next year. Then, we unexpectedly ran into Chris at Costco. Tomorrow is a Harvest Host stop at Big Sky Deli in Great Falls, followed by 3 nights in Coram, Mt (West Glacier NP). Will celebrate Mother’s Day there. We enjoyed Coram, had a nice meal for the ladies in Columbia Falls at Vaquero’s along with Terrie’s favorite Sopapilla.

As we left the US for Alberta, the smoke from the fires really came in and made travel visibility difficult. The first night in Canada, we stayed at a community campground in Coalhurst, AB.  The next night, we stayed at Overflow parking in Lake Louise, AB and now we are at Monarch Campground in Field, BC.  We are about 40 miles from Banff and 15 miles from Lake Louise.  Other than the smoke, it has been a great trip (also not counting the tire issue). I believe Ron and Rhonda are enjoying the itinerary so far.

Here are some photos of our journey in Glacier, Banff and Lake Louise:

Bike ride along Lake McDonald on west side of Glacier NP.
Running Eagle Falls near Two Medicine Lake in Glacier NP.
Supper at Bear Street Tavern in Banff.
Banff Upper Hot Springs overlooking the city.
The Lake Louise Chateau reflected in the lake.
Lake Louise through the smoke.

Just replaced one of my tires, Sailun warranty folks were helpful, they sent me a check as I found a tire locally. Belts look like they separated.
